"Each day we are faced with new challenges, for some that is, how are we going to be able to feed our family?
It is uncomfortable to think in our community there are children that go to bed hungry. One Mother told me "I only eat one meal a day most of the time so I have enough for the children". In Camden County one in five children and one in ten Senior Citizens live in poverty.
Share the Harvest Food Pantry is currently serving 400-450 Families or 1700+ people and that continues to increase. The people come to choose approximately 28 Ibs. of food per person once a month. We use the government guidelines to qualify people. Our doors are open 2 days a week, Tuesdays from 3-7 p.m. and Thursdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We are open in the evening on Tuesday so that people who are working, but earning a minimum
income, can come to help stretch their food dollars.Since opening almost 2 years ago we have given over 300 TONS of food to people in need, food that otherwise would be destroyed.
Our food comes from Central Missouri Food Bank and we also have USDA Commodities, donations from the community plus monies earned from our Thrift Store. You are allowed to visit the food pantry once per month and must fall within the guidelines established by the government. Please call us if you have any questions, 873-5855.
