Share the Harvest Food Pantry

...located in Greenview, Missouri.

We are a 501(C) Organization (Non-Profit),
Our EIN # 42-1677951.

We provide food for people in need in the Lake of the Ozarks area, serving Camden County for those people who qualify.

It Has taken on a life of it's own.

"Each day we are faced with new challenges, for some that is, how are we going to be able to feed our family?
It is uncomfortable to think in our community there are children that go to bed hungry. One Mother told me "I only eat one meal a day most of the time so I have enough for the children". In Camden County one in five children and one in ten Senior Citizens live in poverty.

Share the Harvest Food Pantry is currently serving 650-700 Families or 2150+ people and that continues to increase. The people come to choose approximately 28 Ibs. of food per person once a month. We use the government guidelines to qualify people. Our doors are open 3 days a week, Tuesdays from 3-7 p.m. Wednesdays from 10am to 4pm, Thursdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. We are open in the evening on Tuesday so that people who are working, but earning a minimum income, can come to help stretch their food dollars.
Since opening almost 3 1/2 years ago we have given over 450 TONS of food to people in need, food that otherwise would be destroyed.

Our food comes from Central Missouri Food Bank and we also have USDA Commodities, donations from the community plus monies earned from our Thrift Store. You are allowed to visit the food pantry once per month and must fall within the guidelines established by the government. Please call us if you have any questions, 873-5855. The pantry coordinator for Share the Harvest Food Pantry is Judy Wimmer. The Food Pantry is in need of additional space so we can provide a place for people to wait & a small office. If you are able to help us in any way, please contact Judy Wimmer. Thank You!

Some Great News For Our Pantry!!

Share the Harvest Food Pantry is awarded 70% NAP Tax Credits for business income.

The food pantry is happy to announce that we have been awarded $252,800 in 70% Missouri State Tax Credits through the Missouri Department of Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Program to help us with our New Building Project.

Would you like to keep your MO tax money in our community and help the neediest among us?  This is a perfect way.  If you have business income and have a MO tax liability these tax credits may be just what you want.  You can carry them forward for 5 years.

For an example if you would like to donate $100 or more (in cash, material, labor, stocks or bonds) to the Share the Harvest Food Pantry New Building Fund you will be eligible for a 70% tax credit ($70) off of your Missouri State Tax return.  If you give $1,000 you will receive a $700 credit or donate $10,000 and receive a $7,000 credit!  Don’t forget that you can claim BOTH Missouri State tax Credits AND a Federal Charitable Contribution for the same donation. Sometimes the IRS deduction can put you in a lower tax bracket.

Call our project manager Mary Jo Doores at 573-873-5855 or 573-280-2296 with any questions or contributions.  Or email at mjdoores@socket.net

Share the Harvest Food Pantry plans on building an 11,000 square foot building on their same lot in Greenview.  The clients will no longer need to wait outside for their turn each month to receive their food.  We will have restrooms instead of a porta potty.  There will be a private area in which they can give their personal information.

At this time we are helping over 655 families each month representing approximately 2,166 individuals in less that 200 sq ft pantry and less than 600 sq ft warehouse.  The pantry is open 2 days and one night each week.

As you can tell we are in desperate need for much more space.  Just think you could be a part of supply a new space for the food pantry that will be here for many years to come.

Individual Donations available for 50% tax credit.

MO food pantries qualify for individuals to receive a 50% MO tax credit.
